Newspaper adviser addresses remaining staff

Friday, April 7, 9:10 p.m.

Northern Light adviser and journalism professor Reuben David addressed remaining staff members today in an e-mail message, announcing plans to use remaining staff as replacements for editors who were dismissed.

The e-mail also announced an emergency all-staff meeting to be held next Tuesday, April 11.

The e-mail read, "There has been a change in leadership in Northern Light. We hope to continue publishing the newspaper with the rest of the staff. Please come to the Comm[unications] Center on Tuesday, April 11, [from] 12 to 1 p.m. for an important meeting. We will discuss regarding the feasibility of getting another edition out. Hopefully the change is for the better and we can all move forward."

If remaining members of staff do assume leadership, they will be faced with an uphill battle learning to design a newspaper in a matter of weeks with no training by former editors. Administration instructed dismissed editors not to assist in the training of any new staff.
