Nlnews.org proprietors have decided to permanently remove all former Northern Light content from the web site. There are two reasons for this decision:

1) To respect the wishes of writers and other members of Northern Light staff who do not wish to be associated with the site's protest of administrative censorship.

2) To help redefine the web site as an anti-censorship activist site. The changes in the web site's focus since the dismissal of the Northern Light's top editors have caused it to no longer be an accurate representation of the student newspaper's content.

Over the next few weeks, the web site will be redesigned to reflect its new purpose of fighting for the values of honesty, fairness and the free pursuit of truth, in journalism and beyond. Until the redesign is finished, the current section links will no longer fulfill any practical function. Please be patient as we make these changes for the betterment of the site.

Nlnews.org has chosen to remove past Northern Light content of its own free will, and not at the coercion of North Central officials.

Nevertheless, North Central officials continue to use coercion to deny the free speech rights of students at the university. Officials told nlnews.org that the school would threaten disciplinary action on any student who chooses to allow the web site to publish articles written by the student for the Northern Light, despite the fact that student writers possess full copyright protection under the law.
